The purpose of C-Groups (Community Groups) is to help students make relational connections with their peers and caring adults for the purpose of life change. We believe that life change happens best in the context of small groups. C-Groups meet on Wednesday nights during the Peak Program. After the large group time (6:15 - 7:00), students split into C-Groups (7:00 - 7:45) with students their age and gender. Each C-Group consist of 5-10 students. During the C-Group time, students discuss the night's topic and they are challenged to apply the message to their lives. Students also have time talk about what is going on in their lives and pray each other. C-Groups also get together outside of the Peak Program to hang out and have fun together. If you want to get connected in the Peak Program, then you should join a C-Group!
FAQ's
How do I join a C-Group? You can join a C-Group in one of two ways: 1) if you come with a friend who is your same age and gender, you are welcome to join their C-Group and 2) if you are not comfortable jumping into a C-Group, you can come to the in:Fuse meeting which takes place during C-Group time. During the in:Fuse meeting, you will be given an opportunity to sign up for a C-Group by filling out a C-Group registration card. The following week you will be able to join a C-Group. In order to officially join a C-Group, you must fill out a C-Group Registration card which are located at the Peak info desk.
What is the in:Fuse meeting? The in:Fuse meeting is for students who are not yet in a C-Group. During in:Fuse, you will have a chance to meet some of the staff, find out more information about Peak, and sign up for a C-Group. In:Fuse meets in the Peak Cafe every night that we have C-Groups.
What if I do not want to join a C-Group? We do not force anyone to join C-Groups; although, we stongly encourage students to join a C-Group because C-Groups are where relational ministry takes place. If you do not want to join a C-Group, then you have sereral options: 1) we have a meeting during C-Group time in the Peak Cafe called "in:Fuse" for new students and students who are not in a C-Group, 2) if you drove yourself to Peak, then you can leave during C-Group time, or 3) you can arrange to have your parents pick you up around 7:00 pm (the large group time usually ends around 7:00 pm -give or take 5 minutes).
What if I do not like to talk? You do not have to talk to be in a C-Group. We are well aware of the fact that some students are shy or do not like sharing infront of any group - large or small. Your C-Group leader will not force you to answer questions, share, or do anything to make you feel uncomfortable. Do not worry; no one expects you to share your life story or deepest, darkest secrets. Some issues are better off not mentioned in a group context; however, C-Group leaders are availabe outside of the Peak Program to help you deal with more personal issues.
