At North Side we believe in an Acts 1:8 strategy of reaching the world for Christ. Jesus said: "You will be my witnesses in Jerusalem (Greenwood), Judea (North America), Samaria (different cultures), and to the ends of the earth! Christ calls us to be proactive in sharing His love. That means we both give and go! Both the giving and going begin at our front doorstep, but they reach around the globe!
Global Impact
As far as our global impact, we are a part of the changing strategy of the International Mission Board (formerly known as the Foreign Mission Board). This strategy is described in Dr. Jerry Rankin's book, "To the ends of the earth." The IMB realizes that the task of international missions cannot be done by the missionaries on the field and their limited resources alone. The great commission is the responsibility of every local church! Dr. Rankin summed up the philosophy: "We can co-operate in sending and supporting missionaries, but only as every church becomes involved in God's mission can the Kingdom be extended to the ends of the earth!"
At North Side, the Commission Team enthusiastically wants to help every member, from the oldest to the youngest, participate in missions. We aren't just mission-minded (where we think and pray for missionaries only), but we are missionaries in that we personally come alongside our denominational missionaries to provide both personal and financial support. Over half of our Commission Team budget is spent right in the Greenwood area in many different ministries that have an eternal impact on people from all walks of life!
