Why We Exist

In a world that is growing darker and more hostile to the Christian faith, we have been commanded and convicted to unite and equip the North Side family to not only stand together in this darkness, but to penetrate the darkness with he light and hope of the Gospel.

The Mission of God

All things exist and are being worked according to the triune God’s passion, pleasure and plan (Ephesians 1:11), which is moving forward to display his Glory. God creates, calls, rescues, redeems, saves, restores, restrains and grants all to the end that He might be praised. His desire, which He will surely fulfill, is that the knowledge of His glory would cover the earth as the waters do the sea (Habakkuk 2:14). God’s mission is the declaration of his goodness and worth. His mission is His glory.

Glory literally means “the weight of something.” The glory of God is the gravity that keeps those who see and love it from being led to leave the living God and waste their lives on trivial pursuits.  God’s desire is that He might be known and enjoyed for His nature and character. He seeks to be recognized as supremely valuable, supremely worthy and supremely splendid. God’s glory is expereinced when we understand the reality of His presence, goodness and superiority.

Isaiah 48:9-11, Ephesians 1:3-14, Isaiah 43:6-7, Ezekiel 20:14

The Mission of the Church

The mission of the Church universal is to glorify God by making disciples through the gospel of Jesus Christ. God’s mission and the mission of His Church are woven together like a divinely inspired tapestry. If God’s mission is to be glorified through the redemption and reconciliation of a people, the Church’s mission must orient around the glory of God and seek to glorify Him through redemption and reconciliation. Simply put, if God’s heart is for his Glory, then it should be our heart.

The mission of the Church is highlighted in 2 Corinthians 5. As those who have been reconciled to God through the gospel of Jesus Christ, we are now ambassadors of reconciliation to a lost and broken world. We plead, urge, implore, reason, pray, serve, preach, teach and gather to see God glorified through reconciliation.

The Mission of North Side Baptist

For North Side, the means by which we pursue the glory of God in the making of disciples is four-fold. Our mission is to bring glory to God by making disciples through gospel-centered worship, gospel-centered community, gospel-centered service and gospel-centered multiplication.

North Side desires to see the nations be glad (Psalm 67:4) and come to known and love Him as Savior and Lord. To this end, we go to the nations to declare His glory (Psalm 96:3). For the past six years North Side has partnered with the International Mission Board to reach the Hausa People of West Africa. It is our desire to see the Hausa people to come to Christ, establish indigenous churches, and send out missionaries to their own people.

Everyday Church

We believe that God has placed where we are on purpose (Acts 17:26). With this truth we desire to live, work, and play on mission of the Glory of God. We want to live and speak in a manner that is worthy of our calling. This drives us to love the world through actions and words. Our call is to speak truth into a dark world and to showcase the grace that has been gifted to us in our everyday lives. We aim to be the Everyday Church.
