College Ministry

The best way to get equipped as a college student is through being part of a Discipleship Group (D-Group). Contact Polly Readett to find a group and time that works for you. In addition, we have a college group that meets on Wednesdays at 8 PM.

We are thrilled to partner with Lander University Baptist Collegiate Ministry and Erskine College Baptist Collegiate Ministry and encourage students to get involved on their campus.

In addition to providing avenues of discipleship, we invite all college students to consider their role in the mission of God in the world. College campuses are among some of the darkness places spiritually on the planet. It is a place that is in need of seeing a life lived for the glory of God in studies and relationships and in hearing the Gospel in words. For that reason, we believe that the everyday life of college students matter and is meant to showcase the goodness and grace of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We aim to equip students for this work and encourage everyone to see missions as a lifestyle.

Opportunities do exist both within our church family and our extended family to exalt Christ among the nations. Our passion at North Side is to see the fame of Jesus multiply among all peoples. For that purpose, we have strategically partnered with the International Mission Board in West Africa to reach the Hausa people who are considered unreached. We take numerous trips throughout the year to accomplish the vision of reaching the Hausa with the Gospel.

The International Mission Board offers many opportunities exclusive to college students, both for short-term and long-term service. As a part of our partnership with this organization, we want to urge students to check out these ways to serve at thetask.org.

Biblical Teaching

ColeAs a college student, North Side was used by the Lord as a source of family and the most Biblical teaching I have ever been under. Many of my memories from college are centered around countless Wednesday nights in the Agnew’s home at College Discipleship Group. – Cole Strickland

Walked Beside Me

NoelNorth Side was home for me during my college years. Through connecting with North Side, I gained a family with which I served, loved, struggled, and grew. My church family walked alongside me as I encountered life, allowing me to experience incredible spiritual growth and providing the support I desperately needed. North Side is family, North Side is home. – Noel McDaniel

The Good Samaritan [Bible Reading 6/18 Week]

In the prelude to the parable of the good Samaritan, an expert in the law asked Jesus how to gain eternal life and then summed up the message of the Old Testament in the commandments to love God and to love one’s neighbor. In response to the man’s question, “Who is my neighbor?” Jesus told […]

The Unmerciful Servant [Bible Reading 6/11 Week]

The Unmerciful Servant [Bible Reading 6/11 Week]

Jesus taught on forgiveness through the parable of the unmerciful servant. Jesus’ followers are invited to forgive others because they have been forgiven a much greater debt. Forgiveness of others is an overflow of God’s good news, not simply an occasional act when it feels appropriate. To follow Jesus means to remember we are forgiven […]

The Sower and the Soils [Bible Reading 6/4 Week]

The Sower and the Soils [Bible Reading 6/4 Week]

Jesus taught His disciples about how God’s kingdom actually comes. Jesus’ message is spread liberally, like the casting of seed by a sower, but people’s responses are not determined by the content of the message but by the condition of their hearts. Jesus’ parable of the sower and the soils helps us understand why, as […]

Jesus and Zacchaeus [Bible Reading 5/28 Week]

Jesus and Zacchaeus [Bible Reading 5/28 Week]

Zacchaeus was a man whose example shows us what overflowing gratitude looks like in the heart of a sinner who encounters the love of Jesus. Zacchaeus overcame obstacles to see Jesus, obeyed Jesus’ command and welcomed Him into his home, and then he showed incredible generosity as a result of his transformation. Understanding Jesus’ desire to […]
